You are kidding, of course. Every protectionist in the state will end up hating you, you will never kill the offending wolves, and the state will never hire you again. I'm sure we have exactly the same problem in Wisconsin, but you will never, ever, be able to post what we plan to do about it!

I'm going to go with Nate. Flying around in an airplane or helicopter is a dream compared to the nightmare of carrying an d climbing ladders. It appears they are willing to pay what it takes not a service call and 100 dollars per wolf.

Sleep'n with an animal..I can help.

"Wolves were eating too many elk"? What the what? Should they go on a vegetarian diet? Oh, wait, they're killing elk (which they've done for millennia)...and the humans want the elk.
Oh, well, guess it's too bad for the wolves. They don't pay taxes anyway.

Dave, until you have seen it. Stay out of it.

Humans have been killing the elk for millennia too. Do these wolves have more right to the elk than humans?

It's very good to see that the wolves are finally being managed. The wolves don't get a vote in this.

Managing wildlife is essential. It's what a WCO's job is all about.

Being a trapper, I think it would be more enjoyable to trap them out but aerial shooting is probably much quicker.

Dave, inadvertently I'm sure, you have hit the nail squarely on the head. We never had coyotes in southeast Wisconsin and now we have plenty. Coyote pluses = feral cats are considered dessert. Minuses = they also consider tame dogs, pet cats, and almost any other family pet to be dessert.

My feeling: If I could press a button to make all coyotes disappear from our landscape, you would have to break all my fingers to keep it from happening!

Wolves; Why would any DNR try to bring back a viable population of elk and then when things were finally looking up, bring in wolves? The reason that wolves were eradicated from Wisconsin in the first place was because of some competition for wildlife but mainly competition for tame life. ( cattle ) The thing what impresses me is that if you see a wolf bringing down your favorite (cow, calf, dog, and in Utah, wife ) and you shoot it and bury it, you have saved your local DNR a small fortune and to date I know of no one who has been prosecuted for shooting a protected animal under those conditions. This is what I prefer to call, "Government at its finest."
