Any better way to tie off on a roof then with the ridge brackets?? Anyone ever have the roof leak after pulling the bracket and tarring the holes?

Depends on the roof style, pitch, etc.... (as to the first part of your question that is) Can't answer the leak part, haven't yet (knock on wood).

What type of roofs do you encounter most often, metal, shingled, and what pitches and height from the ground. Folks can probably help give
some better thoughts based on scenario details.

I've got way more gear and options then when we started including full harnesses and rappelling gear, plus standing seam roof anchors for metal roof
systems and ladder hooks. Still don't like roofs but until birds and bats start getting down below the first story I suppose I'll be up there!

Mostly shingled roofs, maybe a wood shingled roof or two. I doubt any clay tiled roofs and a metal roof is possible. I already have a nice full harness.

We do lots of log homes so we tie off to corners of the house. In situations where there is no tie off locations we have tied to trees and my truck. We have a 150 ft rope.

Just put some tar on the screws after you remove your bracket then screw the screws back in the holes and tar the heads just snug them so they dont go threw the shingle in time .Really shouldn't be reusing them screws anyway

when you say ridge do you mean roof brackets? Usually they get nailed up under a tab where it should matter .just tar is a good job.

Aka Watermann...
