Got a guy whos got quite the pigeon problem in a couple barns (to put it lightly). They do some pretty fancy livestock work, so its a biohazard type issue for them, they dont want em thinned out, they want em GONE.

Shooting would be more for fun than getting rid of them, and I just dont have the time to spit in the wind and go do a bunch of pigeon shooting right now.

I used to trap the snot out of english house sparrows with a minnow trap style bird trap. Before I put in any time building another, I figured id see if anyone had some tips on getting rid of pigeons efficiently?

Thanks much.

Trap and gas. Small cannon net if you have one and the client doesn't mind the noise. Do you have a license for Avitrol?

Beyond coyotes I'm not an ADC guy, so im not licensed for anything fancy. This is just a favor to a guy that lets me trap.

Worst case, you get sued without liability insurance...or get hurt without workers comp. Best case, you make a few bucks?

You can build a pigion trap. Just look on line for diagrams.

I have caught a few pigeons in my time and about all I can say is that if you don't have enough time to go out at night and kill them, you certainly don't have enough time to catch them in cages.

Sounds like ill just build a few traps.

My old sparrow traps had funnel doors, wonder if I should go with that for pigeons, or a one way trap door.

Well, if they trap as readily as sparrows, I can drive out there once a day and take 20 pigeons out of a trap in a few minutes, or drive out there every night and spend an hour screwing around climbing around in the roost killing em.

Or, you could expound on your vague statement.

Buy some bobs and make your own traps. I removed about 175 pigeons from a gas station canopy using traps a few years ago. Trapping often requires time due to prebaiting (no traps) then prebaiting with traps (bobs wired open) and finally trapping. Depending on the situation, it's sometimes more effective to catch with nets at night or shoot at night.

However, nothing is as effective as exclusion netting if the structure allows.

Thanks Ron.

Plan is to trap the bulk of em, than go in at night to clean up the squabs and stragglers that got wise to the traps.
