I want to get rid of my land line but I would like to keep the number and get it to ring on my cell phone. Their were some good post here before but I can't find them.

I have a land line number through Vonage but it forwards directly to my cell phone.

Have been thinking about looking into that Magic Jack instead.

Problem with going to cell phone use only is the fact you will not be able to receive faxes or send as you can with a land line. You will have to email everything when you get back to your place of business or office to conduct that part of your business.

I got rid of the fax machine years ago. Just as easy to scan and email and the quality of the document is 10x better. If it needs to be sent now, I just take a photo of the document and email the photo all right from my phone.

I also take photos of all checks and they get deposited to my account before I even leave the customers driveway.

If it helps... No landline used here. I have a multi-function printer attached to my home line with a distinctive ring but I rarely use it. I usually scan to email or print as a PDF and attach it to an email. If you have an Android phone you can use a service such as eFax (and others) if you need to send a fax from the field. You just take a picture of the document and send it as a fax. Likewise, faxes sent to you can be seen and reviewed on your cell phone. Remote capture and deposit has become readily available now and PayPal offers their own service, like Squareup, that allows you to scan a check for immediate depost into your PayPal account. When my current cell contract expires I will be going back to a dumb phone for simplicty and adding/replacing the smart phone with a tablet.

I just bought this new thing from Trapper Paw of KY. Seems you build a small fire and throw a blanket on it, than lift and repeat. Not sure if others have to subscribe to receive and send But thought I would give it a try.

Make smoke-talk using blanket from outside of buffalo or deer. Heap big trouble if run out of green wood. This known as "dropping call".

Look on your bill, if your paying a monthly, "Number Portability Fee", you should be able to keep the same #.
