I know this is probably like asking Victor Vs Duke but here goes. I need a recommendation for some mole traps and maybe a little advice. The little turds have torn my yard up one whole section is nothing but runways.

Thanks in advance, John

I use both, Steve's my go to trap, but OOs can be checked without digging anything up. May have to modified the oos out of the box. Steve's need no modification at all.

Are those fresh runs or old runs from last year before the snow?

Jim , to be truthful I don't know. Our snow is just leaving and I'm finding them. I've been walking on them and checking them to see if there active. I've never had a problem before and need to head it off at the pass. The little pop out holes seem to be fresh and not disturbed like you would think if they'd be if they were around all winter been there all winter.

If they are old runs or mounds, they will have a slick look to them from the melting snow. New mounds have a loose dirt/cracked look to them. Sometimes they will move out in the winter and sometimes not. Can not trap till you have fresh runs.

Sounds to me like you have voles if there are actually visible holes. Voles will often use old mole runways. Moles will not have a visible opening if they are using the runways. Voles will have numerous holes into their underground burrows, about quarter-sized or a bit larger.

That's what I have Ron, theres quite a few of those size holes within the mole runways. Do I trap them they same way? I'm about ready to set up with a shotgun on the little butts

Voles.
