I'm putting an addition on my shed in the spring, so it will be 12x28. Right now it is small and I use propane to heat. I want to either convert to gas or a small wood burner. It will all be insulated except for the ceiling unless I get a wild hair. Any Suggestions or pics of what you have. Thanks

I heat with a propane furnace out of a trailer house. I would insulate the ceiling first because you loss more heat out of the ceilings than the walls.

k-9 in the past i had a 10'x20' very very ventilated, w/ wood burning heater, no problems fur dried real good, this oast summer i built a new fur shed " had it built" 24'x30' metal building , w/ 12'x30' leanto across front, propane heat, insulated, concrete floor w/ drain in middle of floor,no ventilation at all,2 weeks fur still not dry, and trying to mold, purchased 50 pint dehumidifier fur drys normal again, this summer will install wood heater in the new shed, will probably still need dehumidifier, thats o-k i just like wood heat. oh yea i have to empty the full 50 pints each day.

Yeah I understand about the insulation in the ceiling but I needed storage as well and it just wasn't going to happen, Now with almost 200 more sq. foot I can pry insulate the ceiling. I'm just not sure if I want to deal with wood or gas. Wood is not a problem as I have a lot already in a pile but gas seems so much easier. I will have a fan circulating the air 24/7 so put up fur will dry properly.

Here's what I use. It's an electric, oil filled heater, with auto thrermostat. Heats the shed nicely, and uses little electricity. I think I paid 60 bucks for it.

I use a big 220 electric heater. Has a fan on it. It heats my whole shop - about 24x24 (no insulation). Our average low temp is about 40'. I honestly can't ever see an increase in my electrical bill when I use it, but I only run it about 1/2 the day.

Wood. It's cheap and is a very dry heat. Like was mentioned above if you use gas you will probably need a dehumidifyer.

Living in Minnesota (especially with regular winters) one needs a wood stove or an electric base board heater.

I have a 4ft long electrical base board heater that works great for a 8 ft wide, 16ft long and 8 ft. high room (that is insulated). I tried using the electric heater pictured above, but it only teased the room with heat.

If you are thinking negative, instead of positive....Change the Channel!
You'll end up with more energy and more fur in the back of the truck!

The cold wouldn't bother me to skin. It's afterwards when fur is put up to dry and not just sit there and freeze and attempt to dry. I wan't something to maintain constant heat. Maybe electric is the way to go.

I'd stay away from propane if it were me. As mentioned, when propane burns a LOT of moisture is produced. A little "Toyo" or "Monitor" fuel oil heater is REALLY nice, but probably a bit spendy for a fur shed.

i started out w/ apropane infared heater, but it got costly and like others said made alot of moisture
i now have a wood stove it is pretty small (i can only get 16" logs in it) LOL but it heats my 12' x 12' shed nicely.
plus i can get all the free scrap 2x4 and 2x6 from work that i can handle.

Any unvented heater will add moisture, regardless if it burns natural or liquid petroleum gas.

If you choose a woodburner, be sure to install a Class A flue (triplewall). Running a singlewall pipe out the roof is a fire-hazard. A flue-fire won't a matter of "if", but a matter of when.
