I am a golf course superintendent, the skunks are digging things up, I think I need to wait a few more weeks as there is still lots of play. I am looking for suggestions as far as targeting skunks. I thought I would set all the holes I can find, but not sure what lives in them, there are lots of woodchucks.

Woodchucks and skunks eat different foods so there shouldn't be a problem there. Set cages baited with Cheetos, marshmallows, tuna, sausage or similar. I like to blend the bottom of the cage with leaves or grass.

Barrington, I live in central NH and in just a couple of weeks the skunks are going to den up and wont be seen again 'til March. Depending on where you are in NY, you might not have long to wait.

The cages are good. 160's in boxes are good too. I haven't found anything that beats wet cat food and sardines for skunk bait. Set up near the dens and if they're active you'll catch them.

I set the holes with 160,s and now I have a dispatch problem. The skunk is on a busy golf course and I cant shoot a gun here. Everything is in the hole just the tail is waiving in the air. I have the syringe but all you can see is tail. Hope I haven,t said too much but am open to pms on this one.

Are you sure he is alive? A 160 should kill him Dead on the spot.

He expired from the 160 , got a opposum in another 160 and he was also alive. These are strong bmi 160's.

Trade them in for Belisle's,you won't have that problem again.Even though the BMI's are very strong, they still leave enough of a gap between the jaws for a skunk to get air,Dukes can be really bad for this. They are digging around here also. Is it possible for you to target them at night by using a golf cart, spotting them with a head lamp, and shooting them ? It works well as a solution here.

I was only able to set 5 holes that I thought the skunks were using and so far have got 2 skunks, and the opposum. I never have got a skunk in the dog proofs but I have 8 of those set in hopes of getting rid of a few. I did see lots of tracks in the morning dew so I still have more to go. I can try to shoot them at night in a few select areas of the course. There was one living in the fertilize barn until I saw it go in one day,We fixed the door and he is gone from barn. My grub population was low this year but the skunk #,s are high.

You don't have enough grubs to make it worthwhile for them, they are after the Nightcrawlers, and earthworms. Where we are trapping them locally the yards are full of black droppings, they are basically gorging themselves on high protein food sources, the worms, and will continue till the ground freezes.

I like to do what Albert said. On a rainy night especially. I use cb's or a good pellet gun if I have to. If you absolutly can't shoot I would heard them into culverts then put traps over the ends then go look for another one when you come back he'll be in it.
