That's probably the best thing I've heard in weeks.

Congrats gramps! Enjoy them.

How do you think a guy who is older than a guy who is older than dirt feels? ( Of course I can always get a bumper sticker that says, "MY GRANDKIDS CAN BEAT UP YOUR GRANDKIDS" )

Congrats on the third grandchild! I'm expecting my second one in January. Nothing like grandchildren!

God gave us grandchildren for a distinct purpose, I believe. If we've done well raising our children, He really doesn't want us to rest on our laurels, thus, we have grandchildren to challenge us all over again. I feel especially grateful! ( Some of my grandchildren can beat the crap out of me )

Congrats David.

I am so glad to be a grandpa. I think its better then being President of the USA or being the first man on the moon. I never could of dreamed how cool it is to be grandpa in a very young child's eye. To them you are the whole world.

I really wish all three lived locally and sadly only one grandson does.

Robb, this is a real problem that I have as a very blessed grandfather. My farthest grandchildren live a whole 20 minutes away and the rest are closer. When the subject of grandchildren comes up with customers, I don't know if I should tell them how fortunate I am or keep my mouth shut. A lot of my clients have to fly or drive a long way to visit their offspring and many of them do. I want them to know that we are loving grandparents too, but I don't want them to hate us. ( Maybe if I told them how many times we got stuck baby-sitting when we were really tired, that would help ) No, it wouldn't.

Everyone so close to you is real a blessing Paul.

I have a granddaughter who is 5 in Vegas and a grandson In JAX who will be 2 this Dec.

I have a three year old grandson 5 minutes away. If it has anything to do with an animal he just has to tell me about it. He has had a properly fitted Trapper Robb hat since the day he was born too! He is not sure if he wants to be a trapper like me or a hunter like his daddy. Boy is straight up John Deer southern country boy and proud. lol

He can't lift much but he sure is a good helping hand when it is time to do anything helping me out in the Chicken Coop or in the Quails Hutch.

One day he went out to the chicken coop and left the door open and the chickens got out. He positioned a few cages and put bird seed in them. I only learned that I had chickens loose after he brought me a cage and insisted I show him how to make the cages stay open.

He told me he found chickens in the yard and was gonna trap them for me.

This is true! When my son was born it didn't take long for me to figure out what that purpose was. The child is grandmas revenge on her own little brat!

My son gets away with EVERYTHING with Granny that used to get my butt whupped! A good example; How many times, when I was a kid would I beg for a cookie to be told, "Not now. We're gonna eat supper in a few minutes." BUT... I can be picking up my boy from Grannies TO GO HOME AND EAT SUPPER and she's following us out the door shoving cookies on him! crazy

I try to tell her, "Ma, we're going home to eat right now. His momma's got it on the table waiting for us." But she says, "Well, he needs something to hold him till you get there." What?!... Something to hold him?! We live 200 YARDS away! It's not like he's gonna starve to death on the long ride!

Yes.... Grand children are what our parents use to get revenge on us!

Muddawg, surprisingly it can also work the other way around. I have one grandchild that gets away with murder at home but not by us. And sometimes I think she loves us more!

Congrats, Warrior.
Both of our granddaughters live only 15 min away and attend school within walking distance of grandma and grandpa's house. Please notice that grandma got top billing.

Hey Tom, good thinking. I get top billing with our adopted grandaughter and grandma's nose does get out of joint. What the heck, six out of seven ain't bad; she should be satisfied.

Paul,
Grandma's nose gets out of joint here because grandpa doesn't think like grandma.
My priorties begin and end with "will grandpa and the girls have fun?"
Other minor details such as, can they get dirty or is it a school night, rarely enter my thoughts.

UPDATE, turned out to be a false alarm. But I still feel old to think my monkey child who use to climb up my pants leg is of an age to make me a grandfather.
