I like to have my traps covered as well on these jobs. Cats seem to like the security of an enclosed trap and catches are somewhat hidden.

Did you try calling the city animal control , if you get caught kill these cats you could end up on the front page of the news paper , hand cuffs jail probation , these cats have rights , I would get cleared by your local animal control , also could call the human soc and take the cats to them . If the lady keeps feeding them soon there will be a cat in every crack , it's a rabbie factory now . Health risk . Being wild cats they could be very trap shy . So using a funnel trap as Paul said could be the only way . Get some plywood and cover the holes leaving only a few holes to place your traps , this would be the only way to get them all , rats will also move in eating the cat crap and the food this lady is putting out , using the same type food is also a good idea . Tuna fish will draw flys where dry cat food won't , if you call the city don't say there walking on your truck, talk about all the health risk that are breeding over there , which is true

Get thee to a pet store and buy some catnip to sprinkle inside the trap.

Mr. Flick, you live in Wisconsin, for crying out loud. If a cat is obviously unadoptable, why would you take it to a humane society? Take a look at the expression of the gal behind the counter when you bring that fleabag in; can't you take a hint? The gal(s) behind the counter where I take ferals have expressions toward me that I would say are positive. However, the volunteers doing the actual handling of the cats, well that is sad. My gals are extremely NOT trapper friendly, and they know I am a trapper. Each feral cat I capture has a documented history of it's capture and handling by me according to the standard definition of "humane" treatment." Regardless of what you think of this, it works for me. Keep in mind that donations to the SPCA, and income to your business, are not bad things. I bundle a $25 per cat into a feral job that goes to the SPCA. When you get to know the folks there, think about a box of donuts Paul, I totally understand the expressions/feelings of those workers. To date, none of us, from either side, has an answer to the feral cat problem.

Seriously..get all the straight dope from your local AC before you do anything! [The place sinners go to when they die] hath no fury like that of an AR activist who's caught a trapper breaking the law (not that you would anyway, but from what I'm seeing on this thread..wow!)
