I have alot of spoiled shrimp that would be a waste to throw away if it will work good for coon and mink bait. Anyone ever use it? It's just refrigerator spoiled...not tainted. If it does work, should it be tainted or kept fresh? Thanks, NICK.

Shrimp is too expensive to use as coon bait. But if it is spoiled, just throw it in the freezer till coon season. Should make good bait.

Will make EXCELLENT bait. Use it fresh. Or, you can grind it up and mix it with seafood flavored cat food.

Use the shells after you eat the shrimp.

Only use fresh shrimp. Spoiled shrimp will not attract coons very well. It spoiles very fast as well. Not good bait because of this and it is expensive. I've tried it several times and was not impressed.

What BMLutra said. I used old stail shrimp taken out of the freezer on a daily basis with good luck when I was in South Carolina. But you don't wanna use old stinky shrimp, you might catch a buzzard or something like that. But I would'nt know anything about that...

Something I tried that works good for coon bait. You know the shrimp flavored top ramen noodles? 10 for a buck on sale. Take the flavor packs, throw away the noodles, mix it with just enough water to make a paste and mix it in with cheap seafood catfood. Smells strong of shrimp. I used five flavor packs per large can of catfood.

Great idea about the shrimp flavored packets. Last year I tried just regular beef boulin cubes disolved in water and squirted down my dirt hole sets. Coons liked it!

I've mixed those flavor packets with Velveeta cheese for catfish bait. It catches catfish.
