Just wanted to gather some info from operators that have been doing bat work in areas afflicted with white nose syndrome for several years. Are you still doing much bat work? What species do you encounter? How has business been impacted?
Thanks!

Thanks. I was just at the Michigan Bat Working Group last week. Just wondering if people are finding cave dwelling species wintering in homes.

Nothing in MI, yet. The swab testing results are not back, yet. There was nothing visible to indicate WNS.

Update Apr 03, 2012 We have updated our White Nose Syndrome Page on our Bat Removal Pro Site to reflect the sad news this morning that WNS has finally crossed a natural boundary the Mississippi River which never was an obstacle for any bat species to cross into Mississippi . The difference now is cave dwelling species in Missouri now have the geomyces fungus. Thinking out loud here, I wonder if bats migrate over the Rocky Mountains naturally or can this fungus finally be stopped by these mountains.

Not sure about the Rocky Mountains, Robb, but the cold weather in the northern midwest has stopped a lot.( We've never had a rabid raccoon in Wisconsin ) This is not the first year that we've had Al Gore weather either so it will be interesting how this year plays out. Don't let it bother you though; the world will end on 12/21/2012. If you don't think that this date is important, think again. Not only will the world end, but on that particular date, I will be 70 ( yes, seventy years old ) If, by some fluke, the world doesn't really end, I expect a lot of presents!
