leave the front legs not the feet and once the pelt is dry pin the front legs up towards the lower jaw. Just makes them look better and will present a lot better because of the white with black spots on the inside of front legs. If they don't have the front legs they will still buy them but you will get a little less money.

There is allot less chance of them ripping in a drum with them in.

NAFA says same thing (officially) - so they don't tear while drumming (same for fox/coyote). But Brian at NAFA told me he likes them out to show off spots (Nevada style up toward head).

I got the same story from my NAFA guy here. The buyers prefer legs out and "pinned to the chin".. Like this:

BTW, these are "crappy" Northeast Nebraska cats that sold for $650, $550, and $175.... Not in the order pictured..

Sent several Idaho cats to FHA last winter put up Nevada style. When I got paid I was disappointed to see that one of them was marked as "damaged" and brought only $26. It wasn't damaged when I shipped it, and I'm kind of curious to what happened to it. May have gotten ripped in the drum due to it's exposed legs on the outside. Of course there is no way to know for sure, but it would be interesting to know exactly what happened.

It does make me a bit reluctant to ship high dollar cats to the auction again, thought I know that it's probably a rare occurrence.

I wonder who paid $650 and $550 for those cats Ray Charles?

Who cares as long as the check is good. When I worked in a fur room we liked the legs in and no claws. When you have a cat ripe you just paid $300-$500 for, you start to figure out why.

Well, golly, I'd guess it was some foreign feller that wanted them more than I did. I had the price on one of them wrong. Here is what I dragged from my NAFA account.

661278 XXL-XL *SEL XP 1-2 1 650.00 650.00
661288 XXL-XL *SEL PL 1-2 1 550.00 550.00
661517 XXL-XL *SEL PL 2-3 1 150.00 150.00
661630 LGE *SEL XP 1-2 1 160.00 160.00
LYNX CAT Total Qty & Avg Value 4 377.50 1,510.00

Apparently my put-up was OK... wink

Trapperkeck, not to sound completely naive, but how would I go about pinning my legs around the chin? Do you mean during drying or afterwards? Hope you and the family are doing great.

Look at the middle cat that is still on the board in the pic above and note the tacks. The legs are propped open with clothes hangers cut in half.

Ouch. I think I will be leaving mine in that I ship to NAFA.
