What the most prongs on a ginseng plant you've seen

I've seen one 5 prong

Now its growing under my porch

I have dug 3 5 prongs I planted 1 of them and the next year it came up as a 4 with 7 leaves the next year it came up as a 5 then it died and the root rotted that same year.

I've dug less than 2 doz. 5 prongers in my entire life. They are truly few and far between. I remember seeing a photo of a 6 prong in Fur Fish Game many years ago.

I found a hand full of five prongs.Funny thing is the roots were not that big on any of them.

I've seen two 5-prongs in my time.And one double decker 4-prong.

just 4 prongers is the biggest i've ever dug.

I dug 3 4prongers on one root yesterdaydoes that count as a 12 pronger? I planted it will see how it comes up next year.

wendellr, i been wondering if any one on here remembered people finding seng double decked your the first ive seen post about it.you wouldnt have any pics would ya?

I have seen double decked seng on the leaves and the seeds. The double deck seed thing is real common on Korean seng. I have also seen a leaf comming from the berry stem a few times and at times a single berry comming from a stem under the main berry cluster. I can only remember seeing the double deck leaf thing once and it was a mutated thing. I have the darn thing pressed in a book someplace, but will never be able to find it.;

redfoxtrap...only saw the one.we planted it back behind the house,and it came back up but never again as a double decker.

I've seen the leaf from the berry stem and the single berry under the berry cluster but never this double decker thing. Is there actually a leaf prong whirl and than a second leaf prong whirl above the first on the same stalk?

yes dave,it was a 4-prong about knee high,with a smaller 4-prong(with a berry stem) coming up out of the center (where the berry stem should have been on the bigger plant)

I seen a picture of a triple Decker dug in southern WV
it had 12 prongs total
a really strange looking seng plant!

It would be easy to overlook a doudle decker.IMO because they are not shaped like the picture that I have inprinted in "My mind" of Sang'
