Hi everyone I have been away from trapping for a long while and I amm a little rusty.I just purchased some fur handling books that have not arrived yet I want to make some belly boards.How do you guys go about making yours.Looking forward to catching some critters this fall.I have been monitoring the forums for about a year and just registered today.Thanx

I bought mine pre made but I've heard of guys using everything from wooden dowel rods to aluminum arrow shafts. I'm sure it wouldn't be to difficult to make 'em w/ the proper tools.

I have used 4 foot surveyor stakes in a pinch....

They work pretty good...

Do you already have wood fur forms? If so you can make the wedges. If you are ordering fur forms you can also oder some of the wedges. You can buy all of them, purchase a few and make the rest from the patterns etc. Some wooden fur forms come with the wedges included in the price, especially if you buy them in larger lots say a dozen or so.

If you are going to make them I have used 3/4 inch material and then ripped a one inch wide piece diagonally from end to end to give me two coon sized wedges say at 36 inches long.

Yes I am making my own stretching boards.I thought the belly boards had to be angled.I like the arrow shaft suugestion.How long should they be? From the inspection window thru the throat?
