Billfrank...Is the chain you buy galvanized or zinc coated.

Or will the muratic acid work on either?

i do not know whether its zinc or galvanized but its the stuff that buys shiny and stays that way lol , i have several dozen traps on 5 foot chains with the stuff and it works fine and no ive never dipped it in any acids, mine gets dyed and waxed like any other and ive never had a coyote or coon or bob cat or beaver complain about it yet.

Actually Blak, the chain looks pretty good. It don't have any rust on it, and it's dull.....not shiny. I have had it around for years. I had a pm from someone that said the same thing about soaking in Vinegar. Thanks for the comments everybody.
