I am looking for an economical electrical hoist for the construction of my skinning rig and wondered what you all use. ADC - I clicked on the Harbor Freight Link you posted a while back and it said the one you posted was $149 not the $79 you mentioned. Just looking to see what horsepower motors you all have as well and if they are adequate. Thanks

Ok - also would you rather have a 110 or 12 volt? 12 volts seems quite a bit cheaper but I'd have to get a larger battery charger as well. I have heard the smaller chargers don't produce enough amps to power the 12 volt hoists without bogging down.

It would work fine for you BUT they run sales on these things like every month. I got the 880 for $80 when they were on sale. I've seen the 440's as low as $69.95.

If you don't need it yet I'd wait a while and see. I'll bet you can get one under $100.

Personally I'd not like messing with a battery/charger/ect... for a 12 volt.

i bought mine from northern tool and it was about $100 and is 110 and i wouldn't waste the time with a 12 volt and have to keep a battery charged always...

get the harbor freight one, buy the extended warranty, if you are big time skinning buy two and get the warranty, change them out as the switches go bad.

i bought a 12 volt one from harbor freight. its a one ton, you need to run a battery but thats no biggie, figure its even got enough ump to do a deer, i did have to mod the remote control with a little longer wirs but thats nothing. $49.00 you can see it here at the end of my bench, and the remote is under my laptop.
