How many people use beaver oil, in their castor based beaver lures. I am looking for everyones answer, paul, bob j, asa, tim caven, possum, tom olson, and everyone else I am forgetting. I know it has been hashed over a lot. I am just trying to see exactly what lures have oil in them. I would like to do a comparison, so if you know for sure of a lure that does or does not have oil, please chime in. Thanks WTA

I use sac oil spareingly, and by itself, i.e. not mixed with castor. Sac oil can be a good change-up for dirt holes, etc. Squeeze all the oil out. Let the oil sacs semi-dry, and use as you would bait. BTW, don't try storing sac oil, sacs or oil in plastic. Plastic is too pourous to hold the odor, and you'll wind-up contaminating everything. Freezing in plastic doesn't help much either. Use glass. Not implying that sac oil smells bad as do some other things, but it LASTs. Hard to wash off or otherwise remove. I usually wear it a few days. Later, 45/70,

I use it in the formulation of my beaver lure but can't prove that it helps any. It sure doesn't seem to hurt and I will use a little bit by itself on castor-shy beaver. Personally, I would much rather sniff pure castor than the sac oil.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
