i put my asa gum in some 100 proof vodka today. how long does it take till it will be usable. it will burn your nose hairs now.

I'm not exactly sure but if you not in a hurry you can't over tincture it. Probably a couple of weeks with a few good bottle shakings but personally I let things sit for a couple of months. Let me know how it turns out for you. Ace

well i was kind of wanting to make some lure up this weekend would it hurt to add the asa later. it's nothing fancy just something i wanted to try.

If it already has a good odor go ahead and use it. Even if all the odor isn't tinctured out of the asafoedita the odor will still permeate the lure base after it ages a while. In heavy paste base formulas where i've added non-tinctured asafoedita powder I couldn't smell it in the formula right away but after a couple of months of ageing the odor comes through. The animals of course can no doubt smell it right away. Ace

i don't think it will be a problem since it is already pretty strong. i crushed some of it up pretty good while it was cold. this stuff is mixed with the wheat flower but it is still very strong. i bet the pure form will make your eyes water lol

The powder cut with flour or rice is about 30% pure asafoedita so the pure gum would go three + times as far. The powder is plenty strong and permeating in a lure though! Ace

Question for you guys. What's the ratio of vodka to the asafoedita when tincturing? I'll be using pure gum, if it makes a difference.

I don't think there is any set amount of vodka substance ratio as long as the substance is covered with the vodka. How much liquid one wants in the end or how far one ants to dilute the end result is what counts most. Just as a rule of thumb though if I were tincturing something like asafoedita for my own usage I would probably use about 8 ozs of vodka to each ounce of asafoedita so it would shake up good whenever I passed the bottle. Asa, it turned out good! i shook up it several times a day and took a knife and chopped it up in the vodka.

i mixed my bait/lure up today.

we'll see if it will catch anything come trapping season or as soon as i think it has aged enough.

i added vodka till it wasn't so thick, didn't measure it
