i have a question about putting up coons. I have wire stretchers and not sure if i should use #4's or #5's. What are the lengths for a medium, large, X-large, 2X-large, and up size coon??

Use your #4 stretchers. Lengths are as follows:

Coon

SML- under 20"
MED- 20"-22"
LM- 22"-24"
LGE- 24"-27"
XL- 27"-29"
2XL- 29"-32"
3XL- 32"-35"
4XL- Over 35"

Do those lengths include tails or just the end of the back

Coon are measured from the nose to the shortest point on the back, not the tail. So if forced to use wire use clothes pins to hold the sides down, bu still you are loosing a little lenght by not using wood where you can pull that loop down straight across he bottom, Clear?......jk

Itchn, most of your coon will easily fit #4 wire. You might want a few #5's but only a very few.
