No, just over in Ohio.

Most 'coon pelts, this late, will be rubbed here in Ohio.
In Pa., it may be different, in the mountains.

Yes, 'coons have been raiding chicken houses, since there were chickens in them!

What is it that 'coons are turning their noses up at?

What am I missing?

For me in Texas deer feeders are like family reunions for coons. Set at least 4 traps and up to eight traps at each deer feeder. You can use your favorite trap; mine is the 1-1/2 coil spring. I make my own bait for coons. It's a fish based bait with a lot of fish oil and a little bit of shelfish oil mixed in. I've caught up to 6 coons at one location.

One night's catch at the deer feeders.

I'm like most guys, I throw the gauntlet at 'em!

Footholds in water...

Footholds on land...

Snares...although I'm no longer snaring coons...

...I prefer them in these instead.

I hope its not too late to post this, but i usually land trap, but when i go for a few coon this is what i look for.

Den tree or any tree that shows good sign.

Here are the two sets i made at the base of the tree.
Pocket set with a fish carcass tucked into the roots

Like the PVC set but i use rebar and can cat food. I use the rebar stake to stake the trap right in the crick.

Here are the results of the two sets on the next mornings check.
Barely caught this one. I dont like to see this but it happens to anyone if they trap long enough.

Here is one at the stake set

These were considere nuiscance coon for the land owner as they ended up getting most of his sweet corn over the summer. I usually run trail sets with 220 right out of the truck if i am trying to put up some type of number.

My mind belongs to my work,
My heart belongs to my family,
But my soul belongs to the coyotes!!

thanks to everyone who contributed to this post. It has been a great help to me as im sure to everyone else. First thing is first for me. You have to have to property to catch numbers. In my area the best producers are wooded creeks/streams/rivers/etc..., bedding areas adjacent to corn fields, and marshes/sloughs. This is the order in which I like to gain permission for. Next thing is being organized. Have your traps prepped and ready to go with a game plan. Backtracking can put you at a loss of much time. Like many others i like to use a variety of sets. mainly pockets, snares, and grizzes. The quicker the better... This is just a quick overview of what i do and it results in coons, coons, and more coons:)

sometimes you get a surprise...

just a look at my backyard wink
