TK..I have been paying $50 for XL,and even the small are going $30,..but those prices are what I figure we can pay and ,then tan and resale, and break even or make a small profit, the auction houses do want a oval streach, but realy dont matter to me,but I am campaigning for oval beaver put up as well..I should add... this is a local Vilage thing and at this moment ,not buying outside or memeber Villages..Yet whistle

Wow! Goodbye Takotna hello MTV! Sounds like a good deal for everyone over there. Has anybody sold any beaver to any Alaskan fur buyers? Only sent beaver once to NAFA, won't do that again, did get a top lot for a XL though, guess it was supposed to make me feel good.

Man, I have a pile of mink I'd let go for $35 average....just let me know when "the council" decides to expand. The Lower Kusko guys need a "fur stimulus" plan too. smile

How many Wolverine could live in an area (assuming plentiful food supply) the size of 6.1 million acres or 9375 square miles ?

Well it isn't just a matter of food supply. The issue of territoriality has to factored in on the male side and the presence of adequate denning areas for the females. While the males MAY have territories that overlap at the margins, they oftentimes will not tolerate another male in that overlap at the same time they are there. So they may occupy the same area spatially but not temporally. This will also become more rigidly enforced during breeding times.

So if everything was ideal in a 9375 square mile area, I would estimate the MAXIMUM population would be around 250 animals of all ages and genders. I have read about density estimates that are double that estimate but I do not believe that particular survey or estimate is correct. The study that I don't believe, gave a density of 15 wolverine per 100 square kilometers in Montana. That converts to about 0.4 wolverine per sq. mile. I think that is way off! Especially in a settled area like the L48.
