I use smoked salmon and white fish alot for coons and mink, works great in pocket sets and pipe sets, catch a few rats too. I get my smoked fish for free though, no work.

I suppose it would work good...BUT WHY WOULD YOU USE SMOKED FISH FOR BAIT!?!?! Have you never eaten the stuff? There's not much that beats smoked salmon on wheat thins.

Yes smoked salmon works well. I do not see any reason that smoked carp would not work. I use quite a bit of salmon and smoked salmon, just cause I have it available ot me. Might be worth a try for some of the carp from bow fishing. \:\)

I would only eat smoked salmon. But, I have used smoked suckers & carp in bucket sets. It works great for coon & skunks. I have never used it for mink, though.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

The reason I used smoked fish is because my brother-in-law smokes fish for a living. I get the stuff that doess't turn out to his specs. I also get alot of it to eat, good with crackers, cheese and beer.

west michigan,
I freeze the skins from my smoked salmon and any pieces left over and grind it up with fresh salmon and salmon eggs in the fall. add some antifreeze for when it gets cold and you're all set.

I tried smoking a salmon once but I couldn't keep the dang thing lighted. Must have been defective matches.
