What is a good website to buy some belly boards (for fox, coon, cats and coyotes) from?

Or if you think i should make them myself what are the dimensions for them? How long and how much of a taper at the end?

I don't know about buying belly boards, but we've always made ours or used 1/8" dowel rods, 3 per hide (2 on on the back and 1 on the belly). This has worked quite well for us. We run them all the way up through the eyes and one out the mouth.

You can see the dowels in this photo

We use dowels because they were handy when we first started trapping nearly 2 decades ago. Our father is a master carpenter and we had literally cases of them lying around.

Its worked for us.

When I used fixed boards, the belly boards where about 3 feet long tapering fron 1 inch to 1/4, they were made from the side pieces of wood that was left over after cutting out the main board. To make them I used a fence extension that was screwed to my original fence. To the first belly board made I placed a screw as close as possible to the end as I could then with just a bit of the screw head sticking out rested the rest of those scrap pieces on it and used the original as a carrier agaainst the fense extension ans carried that through the saw blade- boy that is hard to explain and really simple-sorry for not being to clear......jk

Anything that will "Tent" the pelt up a little will do.

Or are you asking about the stretching boards themselves?

I used some 1/2" PVC last year. Worked as well as my "store bought ones" and a lot cheaper.

1" pickets or surveryors stakes work well also...

Most of the time I just take a 2x4 and split them off...

The PVC sounds like a great idea also.....

Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,
