if you are buying and using you do not need to "preserve" urine (just store in a cool dark place) ... but if you really feel you need to ... you can use sodium benzoate but methyl paraben would be better
if you're looking for something to slow evaporation ... I'd suggest glycerine ... roughly four ounces to a gallon
*don't mix glycol with urines (suggestion of preference)

what do you use to preserve urine & where can i buy it? After the season, put it in the freeer... It will not change it one bit.. a Doctor friend of mine told me that they freeze urine samples all the time, and they can still put the DNA or cells that they need to study without any problem.....
Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,

i have some fresh stuff and need to preserve it ol' bulletbox pretty much hit the nail square on the head for storage ... that would be best ... followed by just keeping it in a cool dark place (if it's good, clean urine to begin with it'll get better with natural aging anyhow, probably another 'me" preference ) not sure who told ya that you need to preserve urine or why you are so heck bent on thinkin' you need to ... 'cause, honestly you really don't need to! ... seems to me you might be overthinking something that is so simplistic ub - no real learnin' to be passed on, just my preference ... you and many others use or have used glycol in urine as an antifreeze ... to add and use, most likely you'll have no concern ... but for storage I think it's best not to have it mixed in ... time, urine and glycol can go wrong

ok i just have so much i was going to try to sell it it`s fine fresh then? Its fine fresh as long as it is strained well of food particles. It is food particles that will spoil and make the urine smell like a sewer. Food particle free urines will last for years stored in a cool dark place. When storing for extended periods of time it is best to do so is glass bottles as plastic containers being porous allow the amonia content to escape resulting in a flat smelling urine. If one really thinks they need a preservative one can add a cup of plain pickling salt per gallon of urine. This will not from my experience compromise the value of a urine as the urine already has a natural salt content. A cup of pickling salt also serves as an anti-freeze down to moderately cold temperatures. Asa

I have urine that has been in plastic for 12 years and its still very potent. I think it depends on the plastic it is stored in. I would never store urine in a gallon milk jug type of plastic, but I wouldn't hesitate to store it in the plastic gallon jugs sold by Sterling Fur, and probably others.
This urine is some that dad put up before he passed away back in 1997, and its still very good. Definitely a difference between soft and hard plastics, the hard being less porous and more similar to glass. Asa

asa, is adding glycerin to the urine a good idea to keep it from evaporating on your sets quickly a good idea? I only use glycerine in the Winter to keep from freezing. In warmer weather I try to soak the urine into something natural at the set like moss, rotten wood, etc as it will last a long time that way, even when dried out it will still give off odor. Asa

what do you use to preserve urine Nothing...if its good it stays good (for years) Like paul said, i have urine that I first collected when starting up. been sitting in a hot barn for many moons and when you twist off the cap it will roll your eyes back in your head. Wouldn't hesitate on using it. If its junk, then you better throw it away...or if they are selling junk it has been messed with (like above) with sodium benz/etc. adding Gylcol in the winter is sometimes done to keep it from freezing at the set and slows the evaporation rate in the heat of summer. which is okay and doesn't hurt the urine aslong as the Glycol hasn't been compromised.
