The Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet is featuring a series entitled
Whale Wars on the extreme Sea Shepherd Conservation Society as it
breaks the law at sea, harassing Japanese research vessels.
http://animal.discovery.com/tv/whale-wars/ While Japan is a respected member of the International Whaling
Commission (IWC), Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was long ago
banned from the IWC for its violent actions. However, it remains is a
tax-exempt charity, a 501c3, incorporated in Oregon. Sea Shepherd
regularly breaks the law, as seen on Whale Wars and in this document:
www.icrwhale.org/eng/history.pdf Complaints should first be filed against Sea Shepherd (Corporate EIN
93-0792021) at the Oregon DOJ at
www.doj.state.or.us/charigroup/complaint.shtml. Those in Oregon should
especially take a few minutes to file a complaint and ask for the DOJ
to open an investigation.
If you can, file additional complaints with Discovery Channel at
http://extweb.discovery.com/viewerrelations and with the IRS at
www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=139029,00.html
