Good video Geezerman, I make mine the same except I use another ferrel and make a loop on the handle end too! I also glued my caps but I like your way better for cable replacement!!

I made a lock devise, just don't really use a lock , normally I only use it when releasing an animal or like the other day capturing a mother coon in a soffit

I personally like the piece of mind knowing the cable is locked in place until i release it. I made one very much like yours and have now switched it over to a positive lock. To each their own and yours suits your needs. Until i used one, I really don't have a good handle on what my needs really were.
I put a small engine pull handle on the end of the cable on mine as well.

I have a question,why do you prefer a PVC tube instead aluminum,copper or iron? I think PVC breaks with low temperatures.
The primary reasons are: cost, easy to work with, less binding through the caps, light and the pvc is strong enough to get the job done. The only complaints I have heard are from the northernmost states as you indicate. Great video Geezerman.
