i've got a yote i'm putting up that was killed early in the season, and the fur is FULL of dead lice/fleas/mites you name it. what is the best way to get these things out?? i thought of vacuuming the pelt with a shopvac when it's fur-side out on the stretcher. what do you do? i already washed it with cold water to get some dirt/blood off the fur, but the buggies stayed in.

I would throw the sucker in the ditch. Chances are the fur is no good if it has lice. It also probably smells to high heaven, Most of them that have lice around here, are no count.

Every fox I catch has fleas, I put them in a garbage bag and spray with Raid. I also wear Nitrile gloves and wash my hands often!!!

Why don't you try a Shop-Vac??? Or just hand them outside in the wind for a day

If the lice looks as thick as sand in the pelt or looks like pepples of sand, you are more than likely not going to get them out 100%. Combing is one of the best ways to get rid of the dead lice. most generally when a yote has had lice bad, they scratch most if not all the underfur out of them. Most of the time when they have had lice bad, they have a very bad smell, like a dirty wet dog or worse. I have never seen these yotes bring any kind of money. Also be carefull handling the thing, you may attract the nits, witch or the eggs of the lice, to yourself.
