i don't have any pictures, but i believe they are a wedge made from wood, to be used with wooded, solid strethers, to get some air circulation between the board and pelt. They are also used so you can take them out and the fur will come off easier, instead of being shrunk to the board.

so you dont need them for wire stretchers?

No.

I use them on my pelts that go fur out on wire stretchers to get some air flow up in there. My wedges is just thin pieces of wood about 1 1/2 wide.

A belly wedge is for any fur that is put up on solid wood stretchers. The wedge is about 36" long and is tapered from about 1-1/4" on one end (tail) to about 1/8" on the other end (nose). This wedge serves two purposes. #1. Once removed, the pelt has a bit of play on the board so it can be easily removed. #2. It allows a bit of air to circulate on the board side of the pelt. It is very important to use belly wedges on anything put up on solid boards, unless you like to cut your pelts off the boards.

I would hope, and I'm sure you do, dry fur in first then turn fur out, and put back on the fur form.

Those were made with the scraps left over after making my boards. I have some that aren't tapered all the way to the end and use those most of the time.
