How do you know when to stop fleshing your coon. How dull do the dull side of your knife need to be for pushing.

pretty dull. this has been my first year. I have already learned a ton. you will get the hang of it after you do a few. dont get frustrated. if you see hair coming thru u went to far. Skin should look similar to the pores on the top of your hand. I found that when pushing with the knife, dont put as much pressure as u would think down on the knife but use kind of a sawing action from side to side slightly as you push down

That can't be good, cause I have hair sticking out all over the back of my hand. LOL.

No to sound like a smart arse But.. You stop fleshing the coon when you got all the fat off.
You can tell when you get through the fat and you are down to the Clean white Leather.
As for part 2 of your question..I don't know. I don't use the Dull side.

My knife is new and it is very easy for me to get down to the hair, i think it may be too sharp. Are wider bladed knives easier to flesh with than narrow bladed knives, i have a caribou.
