Dan -
I think your question was never answered??? Only Stone the angle. Holding the stone as close as you can to the ogiginal. To remove the bur from the flat side .Hold the stone flat to the blade. You don't want a bevel on that side too.

Mine came like yours Dan and I ended up reworking it. Took the large bevel all the way down to the edge and eliminated the secondary angle on that side but left the relief angle on the back side. Without the relief on the back it wanted to dig into the hide instead of sliding on the hide and slicing off the meat.

Swampfox....answered? Yeah, I suppose. I was just curious how other folks are doing it.

This is why I posted the question....

Mine came with a bevel small bevel on the "flat" side as well. Holding a stone flat on the back would do nothing but generate a lot of sweat!

I have used the necker 600 for years and last year did 265 beavers and never put it on a wheel, file or stone. I forgot how I found this out but I would bet it was on t-man. I take the back side of a knife and run it down the back side of the necker about 3 or 4 times then run the knife down the front side one time and now the necker is sharp. You might have to do this acoupe of times to find the right angle to get the necker sharp. It works for me and to do 265 beavers it most work.
If this is hard to understand I can take a picture and post it.
