Where and when does urine come into play at a set. I have never before used a urine, just bait and lure. I was just wondering how one would use urine at a dirthole or flat set?

On a dirt hole it's not as critical as a flat set because your target animal will focus on the hole/bait/lure.I usually spray some to the left of the hole on some backing.On a flat set I spray some on the ground to the left or on something within a foot of the gland lure.I think one can use urine in broad situations with out worrying about spooking targets.I never use alot just one shot out of a small mister bottle.I switch fox or yote ever other set.It does not spook fox useing yote urine.If one was to use urine alone at a set, keep your trap just out front of your backing with urine on it.Try to use the prevailing wind as an advantage.

I always use something to put the urine on, a stick, a dry cow pie, an old piece of soaker hose, scat or the backer...

I never put it on the ground... the ground soaks it up to fast, and the smell leaves to quick...

I try to simulate the amount of urine, I think the target animal will leave...

I use a gland/urine blend as a lure right in the dirt hole.

At dirthole sets I just give the set backing a small squirt of urine allowing a few drop to run on down into the hole. Asa

In my opinion all attractants, including urine should be directly behind the trap so that the animal has to pass over the trap to examine it. Asa
