Hey Idaho trappers. Anyone have any guidance on turkeys and turkey hunting in Idaho? Best area’of the state, public land availability in turkey country, etc. I know out west there’s good hunting to be found, but also large areas that aren’t turkey habitat.
Just a couple old retired guys looking to take a turkey hunting trip to a new state!
Any info that you can share would be much appreciated!

If anyone would want to swap a hunt I’ve got world class Midwest private land duck hunting to offer in trade.

Southeastern Idaho, Franklin county has turkeys and some public land. I've killed a couple birds up Mink Creek and the Oneida Narrows.

There is a ton of turkeys in north and central Idaho and lots of public land. They aren't hunted hard and some(me) consider them an invasive species. We can harvest 5 a year only 2 in the spring. It is either sex in the fall and you can harvest all 5 in the fall. I only shoot them when they are in our yard and garden and my wife and I each kill our five. I .would consider Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Moscow and Lewiston areas and up the Clearwater River. Priest Lake is another good area. In the spring they are mostly on private property until they disperse. PM me if I can help.
