When mink bottomed out a few years ago a friend of mine who is a furrier in Montreal bought up a bunch of cheap wild mink lots at the auction.
As you know when fur is not in demand there is no need to sort them separately, they are intersorted by value so a lot of different sections etc in same value intersort.
He sorted all the skins by grade and section etc and some of the wild mink coats he made out of all those cheap lots of fur were stunning.
He was able to use the lesser skins also because of his skills as a designer.
The skins he could not use he sent to furriers and platers in Greece.

Mink have not been fine graded in more than 20 years.

Your information is dated.

Down to 2 sections

Never said they were graded that way.
mink are what they are and there are still 6 different recognizable sections for mink in ontario.i dont think the 6 sections of mink in ontario were separated at the auction house ever.

Boco not having worked there how can you say that statement.

When the numbers were there there (100k/ year) was at least 10 sections of mink separated out
bundles of 80 cause that was a jacket amount, later they went to 200 and vacuum/ nitrogen fixed

I never said they werent i said I didnt think they were.
The different fur characteristics in mink in different sections of ontario are biological differences in the fur character and do not change regardless of how or if they are lotted at auction.
Ya folla?
For various reasons,at different times, they could be either separated or intersorted for sale, depending on which is most financially prudent to meet the market demands.

Does FHA ever show the catalog with all the prices or do you just get to see the pricing for your items only?

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Click on the buyers links. March 2024 isn’t with the rest yet though.
