Now and again some hikers will find a carcas pile and it will hit the news as a a dog mutilation/witchcraft thing. Once the media made a big whoop-de-do about somebody found "MUTILATED" swans, turned out to be breasted out snow geese.

Never ceases to amaze me how stupid some folks are in this area .There is someone around me that thinks it is funny to dump coyotes whole into a ditch about 300 yards from my house . Someday he will mess up and I will find out who he is .
Our state dept of transportation made the news the other day with a mass uncovered grave of road killed deer in a medium on the interstate . There was over 50 dead deer rotting in a cesspool of a hole . Now it is high enough it is viewable from the road .

At the begining of each season, I dig a large hole, and cover as I go.

Unbelievable! It takes all kinds What I find hard to understand is someone in the comment section under the news post, can see unskinned heads and feet? I guess you see what you want to see !!!
the state of ohio is letting the road kill deer lay in the ditch where they where killed and just covering them with mulch! guess they didn't realize that dogs and coyotes would dig them out or better yet realize that the first time it rained the water in the ditch would float away the mulch! wonder what genius came up with that idea?
Guys up the road from me have about 50 deer dogs. Daily I put 5 gallon pails down by the road with whole beaver carcasses in them with lids on the pails. Then I call for pickup and the body snatchers come and do their thing and return the pails. I don't even have to gut the carcasses.

Sgt i bet you it was the same ppl who dumped all of the ones last year to. Every spring they find a bunch of them that were dumped in ditchs or in river in that county. Last year they made a big hoot about it and said it was black magic happen or it was a cult.

all mine go in a carcass pile here on my property or go into bait. In warmer weather they go into the creek on my property and the turtles have them cleaned up way before they get anywhere near where someone else might see them. That way it keeps the turtles around for me to catch later on.
you know we all have somthing in common with this person. We all need to get rid of carcasses. We all read trapper mag, fur fish game etc. Instead of the same ole how to catch , they should have articles on how to dispose. Most of us know it takes a longtime to decompose in water and a short time on land. And for sure keep it OUT OF SITE. It is against the law to throw waste in rivers here in Mo.
up here we put them on the beach at low tide, sit back a ways, and watch the Bald Eagles clean them up. Pretty awsome to watch. Pretty much gone in a matter of minutes.

when my pard and i was trapping heavy before the the regs changed trapping ( I-713) wash state, we would take them to a rendering plant. They said we could throw any critter in thier carcase pit but a skunk. hope this helps
While Mule Deer hunting out west in Wyoming we took our carcasses to a dump where you back your truck up to a large trench that was dug in the ground and dump your carcasses into it. I shot a Mulie and a coyote and dumped the carcasses into the trench. The trenches are backfilled when they are full and a new trench is dug. How is it that the state of Wyoming can afford to provide carcass dumps and we can't? Is it is done solely to prevent the spread of CWD?
