I am wanting to buy some boards. I don't want to use the wire stretchers. Anyone have any advice on what type to buy and or websites to find good ones.

Get some pine and have it taken down to 3/8 of an inch in thickness. Lay a pattern on it and cut it to shape, sand the edges as well as the board. Make sure you cut a belly board also while you are at it. Some like to varnish their boards, I just use them...Tom

MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO PITCH POCKETS IF YOU USE PINE!!!!! I like to use western red cedar or port orford cedar. I also have some basswood and cotton wood stretchers.

we use basswood boards as well, they are soft so its easer to press the pushpins into.

I made mine for 1/2" plywood. It's a little harder to tack but you get a lot of board out of 1 sheet of plywood

basswood is best, i bought some 1/2 in plwood ones and they are a poorer quality board, the edges are rough and hard to get smooth, hard to tack into, got some grawes boards, they are high,i bought some slight defect boardsfrom him, bought some old used ones from happy plumber and really like them, my favoriter shaped board, you can get boards for around 5. a board from different sources

I got a leftover cedar board from woods class. Will that work to make a couple coon boards?
