Anyone have pictures of sets using 330s with castor mounds on a steep bank. What kind of guiding would you use and how would you shape the bank?

On a steep bank I would just use a shallow set CDR with a drowner.

But, I would use some light guiding, enough to keep them to coming in from the front sides of the set. Try to create a run from the mound extending out into the water.

How deep is the water at the base of the bank?

Take your hand and smear a up the bank like its a beaver slide. Set the 330 with the trigger on the bottom. Make a slot in the mud where the trigger will be so it can fire easily. Bend the trigger wires so that they are each shaped Like a upside down L. Together they will make a T. Do this before you set the trap. You want the trigger under water with about half the trap above the water. Yes this is legal in Ks. Put some castor and glycerine in a blender. Make a paste. Or buy some beaver lure. Put a little about a foot or so above the trap in the slide. A little sac oil instead works about as good. If you find a slide where beaver are leaving the water to cut saplings etc set it the same way.

I have found about 10 slides, but there are all about 3 times as wide as a 330 when they hit the water. So how much guiding can you use?

Build your OWN castor mound where it is easy to make your set. Make the beaver come to where you want to kill'm.
I almost never set a castor mound that a beaver made. I make them come to my castor mounds.Where I can easly make the set.

What Danny Clifton said. Make sure you brace the 330 well so they don't knock it down or go over it. You can use a lot of guiding...make sure you use dead, dry stuff.

Newt's way works well also.

You can use as much blocking as needed, most beaver could care less how much you use.
When blocking off wide areas,I use thinner dead material(thin logs or sticks0.I place them ,so that one end is just between the jaws--then they run parallel to the bank--blocking off several feet. You can use several(one on top of the other0Just make sure, they do not interfere with the jaws when they close.
The great thing about castor mounds and 330's---you can bring the beaver to where you want to catch them.
Like Newton,I make my own mounds, and rarely set ones a beaver has made.
