I'm needing to remove some barn rats from a couple of properties in town... I was planning on using regular old victor Rat traps.... What is the best bait to use... I will setting outside of the property... I was trying to use something sweet (i.e. Marshmallow, and sweet coon bait) problem with that is the stinkin ants are all over my bait...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

No bait . Excluder traps over there entry points . Blind set there trails leading to there food sorce . Carve out trap beds and put your victors level with the trail cover with dirt . Them big old mama rats are wise to bait and poison . Mid west Norway rat super rats

I have had good luck setting 1 1/2 long springs. Old weak spring ones on a hair trigger. Than I springle shelled cord all around the traps. Just be sure to wire the traps to something solid. Has worked well for me. Might be a problem if birds can get to the corn.

What Jim says.

If there are any holes, a 55 body grip over the hole works.

I took 28 off one home property using box traps, Havaharts. I placed them along buildings or solid fences. Had both doors open and they would follow the old trails, run across the trigger and bam.

The use of snap traps in blind sets should work also.
