im lookin at getting some footholds to use for beaver. what types do you guys use and what are some of the benefits of them. longspring/coilspring/brands?

bridger # 3 or duke # 4 for front foot catch I like the bridger #5 cs for back foot catches

Benefits are that they were made in America and consitently hold Beaver !

MB 750 back foot catch perferabably, but front foot is ok. They take up less room and are easier to bed then long spring traps. I like the fact that both jaws are locked down and can not be flipped. They are very strong and lock in when they make a catch any where on the Beaver's foot and I can still easily set they with my poor old hands. Now with that said if I could legally use a larger foothold trap I would use the TS 850. Good luck.

iuse both bridger #5 and mb750 either one will do the job fine for you

I like a longspring #4 or #3 because I think they bed easier.

I own MB750's, Bridger #5 Longs, Bridger #5 coils, and CDR's. I will reach for the MB750's first, everytime. The others are also great traps but I just like the MB's.

MB 750s for me as well. Only foot trap on my beaver line. AWESOME beaver trap!

CDR's and TS 85's here.

Need setters with the CDR's though.

That is my biggest gripe with the CDR's Jackie. I absolutely love wire levers on coyote traps but dislike them on the CDR's. I have played with the TS's but don't own any. I did like what I saw though.

750's first every time for me..I like the looks of the TS85's though..Im gonna try soom soon..Ive never had any trouble catching beaver in any of the 7 1/2" traps I just like the 750's the best..

Different strokes for different folks j morris, thus why we have CDR's, MB's, #5's, etc.

I just like having a problem beaver, CDR's hardly ever let me down.

Like the TS 85's cause the jaw's are larger but they are nice to be able to set by hand.

Now if i could just get a TS 10, with a 10 inch jaw spread, lol.

Send me one of the 8.5's jakco, Ill make it a TS20" if you want,LOL

Thanks for all the input guys. For the guys who use the mb-750s, do you think that the offset jaws or lamination is necessary for beaver, or regular jaw?

I run all mine laminated. Some claim this will make them slip off the foot...LOL. NOPE! Reason I run them this way is because I'm on a 2 day check and often times have to hold them on dry land...as it is impossible to drown them as the water is too shallow. If you've never seen the catch circle from a 70 pound beaver ... it'll impress you! I use the laminations specifically for critter comfort. I have both the factory flat bar style and most I just laminate myself with roundbar.

A thumb sized stick in a laminated 750 and no problems holding a good sized beaver.

No matter what MB 750 you choose...they'll do a great job for you. Hope I've convinced you laminated 750s hold just fine!

I used to use the MB-750s but had too many pull outs with them. So, I switched to the CDRs and my problem was solved.

I did hear MB-750s have beefed up their springs though. That should make them a better trap. My only footholds are the CDRs.
