MB 750 back foot catch perferabably, but front foot is ok. They take up less room and are easier to bed then long spring traps. I like the fact that both jaws are locked down and can not be flipped. They are very strong and lock in when they make a catch any where on the Beaver's foot and I can still easily set they with my poor old hands. Now with that said if I could legally use a larger foothold trap I would use the TS 850. Good luck.

I own MB750's, Bridger #5 Longs, Bridger #5 coils, and CDR's. I will reach for the MB750's first, everytime. The others are also great traps but I just like the MB's.

CDR's and TS 85's here.
Need setters with the CDR's though.
That is my biggest gripe with the CDR's Jackie. I absolutely love wire levers on coyote traps but dislike them on the CDR's. I have played with the TS's but don't own any. I did like what I saw though.

Different strokes for different folks j morris, thus why we have CDR's, MB's, #5's, etc.
I just like having a problem beaver, CDR's hardly ever let me down.
Like the TS 85's cause the jaw's are larger but they are nice to be able to set by hand.
Now if i could just get a TS 10, with a 10 inch jaw spread, lol.

I run all mine laminated. Some claim this will make them slip off the foot...LOL. NOPE! Reason I run them this way is because I'm on a 2 day check and often times have to hold them on dry land...as it is impossible to drown them as the water is too shallow. If you've never seen the catch circle from a 70 pound beaver ... it'll impress you! I use the laminations specifically for critter comfort. I have both the factory flat bar style and most I just laminate myself with roundbar. Check out these pics. All are MB 750 laminated. Give you some idea of why you are hearing so many recommending them. Front foot hook up. Both back feet. A thumb sized stick in a laminated 750 and no problems holding a good sized beaver. Here's a marginal hold...plus a stick caught in the trap. Slipping?...I don't think so...LOL. Bad picture...but check out the catch circle on this beaver. No matter what MB 750 you choose...they'll do a great job for you. Hope I've convinced you laminated 750s hold just fine!

I used to use the MB-750s but had too many pull outs with them. So, I switched to the CDRs and my problem was solved.
I did hear MB-750s have beefed up their springs though. That should make them a better trap. My only footholds are the CDRs.
Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

MB750's and the TS-85. All my 750's are offset and laminated and the TS-85's I laminated myself.

#4 double longsprings work nicely and can be had used cheaper than the others (the mb750's, etc. are all great traps, not saying they aren't, but the #4's will do the job).

Glad i ain't gotta make a living trapping beaver with #4 longsprings, lol. I did pretty well with them, mostly Victors with cast jaws, and one old rather beat up Newhouse. I'm tempted to buy some 4 1/2 sleepy creeks or bridger #5 dls's for a bigger jaw spread. The mb750's and such are nice traps but truthfully I like longspring traps better.

My favorite trap is a bridger #3 or the close copy duke #4. Anit nothing wrong with a bridger # 2 either Dont laugh They get their foot in there front or back and they will be there come morin. No I wouldnt want to do full time ADC with it but it but it gets the job done on the fur line. I like the fact that they dont weigh a ton.

I had a 1-3/4 DUKE 2 coil set for mink on a drowning wire. The next day I had a 37 Lb beaver on the end of the wire. Lucky I might add, the beaver went under a log and couldn't break surface on the other side and expired. If he had tryed hitting land He would have probably pulled out.

those 4 1/2 sleepy creek are a lot like the 44 B&L but much stronger and heavier. GOOD trap too but I haven't used one but my buddy does

I run CDR's MB750'sand #5 bridger ouble longs and love them all. If I had to rate them I would say that the CDR is at the top. I do want to try the ts85 though.

Still got my old #4 blake and lamb's, was all we had to beaver trap with in those days. I'll stick with the better beaver traps we have these days.
BMP's claim a #11 is a good beaver trap too, ive held a few in them so I guess they are a good beaver trap, right up there with 1.75 coils and such.

Bridger #3s set for front foot catch. Grab 'em by the front foot and it doesn't take as much water to drown 'em. I've had back foot catches too and the Bridgers have always held.

So far I am very pleased with the TS 85s I have and the beaver I have caught in them. THey do appear slow when you spring them, but I have not lost a beaver out of one yet.
