ok i found these in seperate places in the archives and figured it would be much easier to compile them into one very informative post. these are videos submitted by other Trapperman.com members that were placed into the archives. i chose some that i thought demonstrated best how to skin and finish coons. Helped me alot hope it'll help all you as well.

They are already in a good place.

thanks for putting that together. One question. When you are fleshing a coon I don't know how much pressure to put on the hide. I just have a regular fleshing knife, not a necker or sheffield or anything fancy. Forgive me if I hijack the thread. I don't mean to.

If your fleshing knife is fairly dull you can apply quite a bit of pressure without causing much damage especially in the tougher areas like the head back and tail.
Once you get around to the belly and around the legs let up on the pressure.
Basically you only need to apply as much pressure as needed to remove the fat or gristle. If you have some really tough spots use a sharp knife and go slowly until you get proficient at scraping.
Scraping is really something you learn by feel. If you don't mess up a few hides your not learning.
If you start to see alot of hair pulling through especially on young and blue coon let up on the pressure being used.

Yea.. I guess I just need more practice. Last year was my first year. I only put a hole in one or two coon, but I think I over scraped a few because some of the fur was coming through the hide.
