Today was my first time Turkey hunting. A friend of mine who works with me seasonally and her dad invited me. I never tried it and had zero desire but Brandy is so crazy about it and involved with NWTF that I figured I owed it to her. We had a wonderful morning. Her dad knows a lot about calling and their behavior and he taught me a lot. Now I am intrigued! Finally called a Tom who took a roundabout way making his way to the field but didn’t come in. Her dad felt that perhaps he had been beat up before. I didn’t think this would happen to me but I shook so hard I absolutely could not stop. It was indeed very exciting and I may give it another try. It is always great to learn something new about the outdoors!

He must have had a jake or Tom decoy out? They will hang up if they ain’t the dominant bird or done got their butt whooped recently.

I’m gonna give some advice…don’t ever go back and wipe that experience from your memory. To me turkey hunting is like a drug or a max dose of adrenaline. Actually when it’s all said and done, drugs may be a cheaper option, lol!!

Glad you got to experience it, but heed the above advice before it’s too late!!!

WannaBe he had two hen decoys out! I don’t know if he was being stubborn or what. Said that they want the hens to come to THEM. Lots to take in today I really loved it. It was a beautiful morning. Started out kind of foggy but then the sun broke through.

A good time was had by all! As it should be.

Turkey hunting is some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I gotta be honest I’m totally exhausted. I don’t know if it’s the adrenaline or just getting up at 4.

Glad you enjoyed. I never could get my dad to go, he would just rifle hunt whitetail the week of Thanksgiving. Finally got him to go one spring morning and called a longbeard in for him. He was hooked and we hunted spring turkey together until his cancer diagnosis forced him to stop. He was my first call this morning when I tagged my bird. It is addictive, keep at it. Eric

Good job, some advice make sure you have the right choke in a friend missed one at 30 yards because of this.

Missing at 30 yards is not a choke problem. Then again, missing at 30 yards might be a "choke" problem.

The way I was shaking? I couldn’t have hit that Turkey with a BOULDER!!

I get more excited about a gobbler coming in than a big buck! Turkey hunting is quite addictive and about the most fun you can have.

Be cautious of ticks though. You don't want to come down with a case of.....well, you know.

Moosey I knew you were gonna get my goat! No ticks but we had lots of slugs in the blind today!!!!

My wife and I had a big Pine Snake (I think) slither into the blind with us one time. That blind went up and over the top of us mighty quick!
