I have some one asking me to get wood rats out of two of his barns.. my 4x4 double door colony traps should work fine right?? Or should I go snap trap?? Said most of them are squirrel size.. some a little bigger..what yall think... ima do some digging throughout the forum and see what else I can come up with.

im no expert on rat trapping but if there squirrel sized then a colony trap should be just right. if there smart or have experience with snap traps and you have un modified rat traps they will get away.

I believe you are referring to pack rats. I have trapped them in KS for many years. I use to catch lots of them in cage traps and foot holds. Glue some fiberfill or rubber shelf liner to the pans. They like the material for their huts and bedding. Also caught them in weasel boxes with rat snap traps using the large pans. You better wire or screw down the snap traps if you are setting them without a box cover.
