eric space trapper E Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 1,253 wantage n.j.	Here in NJ they do not start laying eggs 'til the end of May. Most lay the first 10 days of June. Mud on this one's back looks more like it just came out of hibernation in a mud hole and is headed to some open water. They cannot winter over in a gravel based lake or stream, hence they find a mudhole or swamp for that.
