Well the eclipse is over, the sun came back out, no world wide apocalypse or raptures, and the Aliens didn't invade....just another day in paradise! grin

I think it was a big flop here. The local tourist trap town had some people but not any bigger than local festivals they have there all the time. I thought it was okay but I wouldn't travel to see another one. My chickens did in fact go to bed and some of the pigs were squealing because they thought they should have been fed before it got dark.

Poor people have poor ways.

Kind of disappointing.

And here I got my eclipse vaccine and everything.

Our eclipse was great. Off the drive way we could take in the sight. Biggest effect was on the song birds. They started chirping and heading to roost.[Linked Image]

We had 90% totality, and that 10% left kept it pretty bright, nothing seemed to notice or care. lol

Solid clouds today, no sun to be seen. Was in 100% totality path. Got pitch dark for a couple minutes. An hour afterwards the sky cleared up. That's the way it goes sometimes

. I've seen one before and didn't care but felt bad for the kids who were looking forward to actually seeing it happen. Couldn't believe how many fireworks and guns I heard going off. And I live out in the country.

We drove a few hours over into Arkansas to watch it. We weren't 100% totality here and they were, plus we were forecast 70% rain and they were clear. It was pretty cool. Went with Pete and my mom and step-dad. Packed a picnic lunch. As was said, the birds (mainly redwing blackbirds) all started going to roost. Then the dusk to dawn parking lot lights all kicked on. It was cool looking at it through the glasses but super cool looking at it bare-eyed during those 2 minutes of totality.

Long day of driving but pretty worth it for a once in a lifetime deal.

Reminded me of the song "You're so vain" by Carly Simon. I saw at least three private jets fly in here.
Taylor Swift, Adam Sandler and John Travolta.
