Sold to Weibke out of LaCrosse
I sold 201 rats
21 3xl $5
58 2xk $4.50
70 xl $3.50
27 lge $2.25
11 med $1.25
1. Slt $3
9 kits $1
3 Bad Damage.50 Total was $700 or $3.48 per rat. I had poorer rats this year size wise, but felt good about having only 1 slt out of the 3 larger sizes. No scars or holes, helps
3 mink 2 males at $8 on female at $4
My rat trapping partner
Sold 491 rats with the same breakdowns on price. He had some more slts as he traps some areas with more rats and more bites on the older rats. He had very few kits and mediums as I get those, and that lowers my average but raises my ego (higher numbers) lol His average was $3.82
Always an enjoyable experience selling fur to Dan.

Bryce

I set up on of my rat jobs yesterday 1 caught 3 rats before I left. so far I have made $530.00. And I haven't sold the hides yet.
But those averages Bryce posted aren't to bad for today's market.

Got two more jobs to set up next week. I'll make a easy $1000.00 even if I don't catch any rats.

And Dan will put them in the deep freeze with the other umpteen thousand he’s been buying on speculation.

I am glad he is willing to offer competative prices even if he is speculating. We will see for how much and what percentage the 300k being offered at FHA will do. I only have about 20 up there and most are 2-3xl but semi heavies and down.

Good move for the guy to be buying rats and holding on to them right now with the market rising overall and ranch mink dwindling each year going forward..

It would make me uneasy. You're betting that the value of those pelts will increase up and over the amount that debt service will accrue with no certainty how long that may take.

Like me he may live by the sage advice-"neither a borrower nor a lender be"
NAFA should have paid attention.
