Any Auto Body people out there?
Getting ready to paint my old 69' Chevy pickup.
And wonder what you recommend.
I've looked at Sherwin Williams products and My Dad always used PPG products.
Does not need to be a show car special type paint.
Just want it to be of better quality paint.
Thanks for input [Linked Image]

Let me sugar coat this

PPG Shopline Least expensive option in the PPG line. It can be clear coated with several options.

I sprayed a fair amount back in the late 80s and early 90s. PPg and Dupont were king. I sprayed Dupont as they were local and I always had great results. Ive been out of it too many years, but I assume you couldnt go wrong with either. Hopefully others on here with more recent opinions. Dont forget, prep is 95% of the job...It doesnt matter what quality paint you use if you didnt get the prep work done correctly, the paint job will reflect it.

Prices are crazy on paints now, they have a shady pricing system if you know someone in the business that can buy it for you it’s about 1/2 of walk-in price on some paints.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Quart of PPG Concept 2020 clear to spray a Corvette hood last fall was like $120. The hardner was another $100 to activate that quart. Thankfully I had Black paint /reducer in inventory.

Materials are crazy !

Been painting for 48 years....and still at it.

Solid color or Metallic ?

Solid color will be cheaper....no clear involved.

Why bust your scrotum and then put some Aftah Maahket ..

No name brand of paint on your rig. Makes no sense to me.

I'd go with a SOLID color and use the products in the photo.

I've had no problems with this set up...for your kind of application.

Plus...you can sand out any boogers ..bugs..dust...orange peel..

And Buff it to a high luster...Aftah it dries for a couple weeks.

Put 3 coats on....with sufficient flash time .. in-between coats.

8 parts paint ...1 part haahdnah...2 paaht Reducer.

PM me for other very important steps. Or if your a know it all...don't bother.[Linked Image]
