The truck thread made me curious, does anyone have a 2015 or 16 F150 Aluminum body truck and if so how is it holding up 8 to 9 years on?

Wife has 2018 f150 powerstroke with the aluminum body. No rust issues so far. Lots of salt and liquid chloride used on the roads here. Eric

We've got several in our fleet with no issues, and no beat up beds, either. They all get line-xed before they go out on the street, though.

I have a 2015 f150 with the 2.7 in it.
Looks like the day we drove it home from the dealer.
Used it to pull an 8x20 cargo trailer (4000 lbs) loaded with a 570 quad and a full size ranger 800 along with about a 100 beaver traps to Arkansas and back. Got 11 mpg.
If I ever update it will be the 3.5 or I'll step up to a 250

Sounds like a paint issue not so much rust. I would love to see the pictures. I think I remember they weren to aluminum frames on the half tons also and my only thing I could think of that was good would be that wouldn't rust. But I thought I would rather have a steel frame in a wreck, off road, and halling

Do they use aluminum fasteners or do they have some coating to protect the steel bolts from the corrosion?

Someone with a truck newer than early 2000s can answer for sure but I believe they use Galvanized fasteners.

No clue on the fasteners. No issues with my 2015 yet. Steel that old would be by now.

I watched a YouTube review of these aluminum ford trucks. It seemed to pass with flying colors. They used galvanized fasteners. Just hope a meth head doesn't figure out which trucks have aluminum bodies. I wonder if the frame is aluminum?

If the frame was aluminum I would steer clear, I've seen WAY too many aluminum horse, cattle and atv trailers cracked and broke to pieces. Alright if you are strictly driving on good paved roads, but aluminum doesn't hold up to the stress of potholed gravel roads nearly as well as steel.

My work truck is a 2017 F150 and The paint on the upper part of the tail gate is coming off. We also have a 2022 F150 that has the same problem. We have 5 other F150 that are aluminum that are not having this problem. The paint is just flaking off these two. On my 2017 I had a rack made to hold a shovel a probe and a water valve key( I work for a public water utility company) I didn't realize it until it was too late, but the shovel was rubbing on the bed and it wore a hole in the inner bed liner.

They're steel frames. Ford used the weight saved by making the body panels out of aluminum to beef up the frame.

Ford has had issues with paint peeling for far longer than they have made aluminum bodies.

my daily driver car has aluminum hood and front fenders, its a 2006. No problems at all with the aluminum panels, the steel rear hatch has rust bubbles on it tho.
