Soooo yeah me and my pilot ( he's the other guys that drives the boat. Under the captain but over the steers man) already got along really well right ? he's got 6 years on me kinda a quietish guy ,good sense of humor easy to work with .Well last three months he's gotten into trapping and man the fur bug hit him WAY harder then it did me. I mean he LOVES fur , fur handing handling tanning and all that. Me not so much ( love trapping just not crazy about fur handling).

Started off in December when he was telling me he wanted to get some coon off his deer feeder but he has cat and his wife was against foot holds , told him get some dog proofs and told him what's works for me. Well caught his first one skint it and now every other conversation we've had the last three months has been about trapping Heck I'll be out on the barge doing somthing and he'll come over the radio telling me to look over on the bank at some coon or coyotes or something and joking about running a trap line with the skiff or heck just sit in the wheel house and use the spot light to look at coyotes on the bank.:D Gotta keep reminding him I'm no expert whatsoever but ive been recommending him books and videos to watch.....which hanst helped with is "problem" Shoot today we where painting and he said he really wanted some nicer fur handing stuff other then his home made gear and I told him about F&T ,said hed check it out. Well come out my bunk and into the galley and first thing I hear is him cussing me out saying it's my fault he just spent $200 on stretchers and coon bait proceeded to pitch to ask the captain about catching and skining coon and if we could keep the fur in the freezer ( or ,as he said "heck just have nugget cook it up !" so yeah job got just a lil better now .....now if I can just get him off me about not liking country music

Tell him to forget about coon and coyote and trap beaver.

Another person in the trapping fraternity is great. Boco has something but don't quit trapping coon and yotes, just add beaver to his trapping repertoire. The vittles "nugget" makes will be top notch. I'm with the captain on the country music though

rock music set to banjo music , with good vocals , and you can call it country

Idk there a few songs I like but on average country music just ain't my thing. Older stuff is ok but a lot of the new stuff is so repetitive.

that is because a lot of the new stuff is POP pretending it is country.

if you can come up with a play list of the old stuff and stuff you like , your Capt. would probably play that and you would both be happy.

lots of guys just don't have any patience for playing DJ so the tune to the country station and call it good enough. they don't like every song but they like enough not to change the station.

I actually don't care for playing DJ myself , I have built a few play-lists and downloaded them to my phone for when I am away from home.
some were just playlists I mostly liked and downloaded.

If you asked me I don't particularly care for Bob Dylan but I am not offended by about a half dozen of his songs that are in one of the downloaded playlists on my phone.
so I end up listening to way more Dylan than I ever thought I would.

You be right, country music died about 8 years ago. Bunch of metro-sexual banjo pickers out there these days.

Ask him what he thinks about Johnny Cash. If he says Johnny who then throw him overboard. If he says yea I like him them you both better have something in common otherwise there is no saving either one of ya.

Good to have a new trapper get excited and be thinking about it seiously in regards to Country the new stuff claims to be country and can't stand it about only channel I can listen to is Willie's Roadhouse on Serrious/XM, the Classics

O he's a big country music fan love all that old stuff. Joke with him about it alot. Come over the radio " hay man how about you listen to some real country music like Florida Georgia Line !" Come back on asking if I know what it's like to scrub and repaint the bilge but yeah I honestly don't like country as a whole . Really its a song by song basis for me.
