Some of you might remember I had accident with the table saw at the lumberyard where I work. We retired the old table saw aka the thumb eater and replaced it with a brand new saw it has all the bells and whistles and safety gear kind of like closing the gate after the cows got out. The end

At least you don't have to worry about that thumb getting caught in a trap.

I sat on a Jury where a homeowner tried to sue Home Depot because they didn’t make him buy a Safety Saw !

Every commercial shop should own these saws.

I touched the blad on mine with my thumb last year. Lucky I didn't have the blade ran up but about 1/32 above the material and only removed a blad width of skin. It didn't hurt but I felt the contact and didn't want to look thinking I was going to look down to something like yours. I was lucky, I had gotten complacent and got a good warning.

I would recommend a blade with more teeth for the remaining appendages

DAVE Yes it might be true about closing the gate after the cows got out . But we all make mistakes They are lesson we would not want to learn But at mistakes becomes something else if we continue to repeat them just waiting for the next accident going some place to happen pays a visit to our current location .

I took off 3/4 of a fingernail and nicked the bone on my index finger doing something stupid on a table saw. I found that I became extra cautious not only where I put my hands, but also where I put my feet so I didn't slip or trip near a running saw.

That demonstration cost roughly $130 not including the hot dog. A .22 blank shell ignites forcing an aluminum slab into the teeth jamming blade. Now you have to replace the blade and safety mechanism.

Pick up some green treated that’s moist for a project and it might falsely disable blade.

Still pocket change compared to losing an appendage.

My grandfather lost his ring finger to a table saw. Cut his wedding band in half and almost got either his middle or pinky too. I don't know how he got the ring finger and not the rest. That was at least 60 years ago. Saws have changed a lot since then.

You can disable the saw stop for treated lumber.

You certainly can disable the safety features of that $2200 saw. Of course then it has the exact same safety features of a $150 saw !
