So I have quite a few victor #2 dls with pinch pans.. a bunch of them have been hammered down for pan tension too many times and that trick no longer works... so I decided to make them dogless... It was a sucess!!

Remove old pan and dog

Cut the Bridger #2 dogless pan as shown or to your liking. Cut a piece of 3/16 ID tube 1 3/32" long and weld on where pan sits flat when set.. it's very important that it's inside diameter is 3/16.

U want the tube to be directly under the jaw

Now make minor adjustments to level pan out and enjoy.. you also have pan tension now

I did this with some #4 DLS. Not hard to do with a few simple tools.

Interesting. Do you have a way to test what the pan tension is from the front to the back of the pan?

That looks good DirtyD… Like to see a picture of your 4 DLS 20Scout!!! Reworked a bunch of 3 DLS with paws-I-trip & Step downs. Really helps those older traps.

Will have to dig through my boxes of traps to find them but will see what I can do.

No I don't... but I can always cut the pan down smaller if needed... I do a lot of blind trail sets, so I'm hoping that bigger pan makes a difference on that.. I only got a dozen pans to test out... ima have to wait till next year unless I go set for coyote. Right now the pan is still loose. I would assume it would be void of a dead spot like any other dogless trap.

Was looking for one I had converted to just the dogless without the major mods like I had done on this one but my method was the same. This one has MB550 OS jaws but stock jaws work just as well. As you can see I cut the tab off as I thought it was unnecessary.

Ima base plate all the ones I'm doing this too.. haven't got that far yet.. was js trying g to figure out location of things and see what works first... 1.5 coil jaws fit great on these old #2 dls... might get a few offsets to try out on these... them #2dls is my go to catch all trap...
